Gryt's archipelago

Fångö mine
N 58.11.00 / O 16.55.50
On the east side of Fångö, called Gruvholmen, there are remains from the mining of copper ore which took place between 1820 and 1870. At the peak of this activity around 200 people lived on Gruvhlomen. Today only the waste rock dumps and deep mine shafts remind us of what life was like in the outer archipelago. The mining village is a unique memory of the early industrial epoch at the coast of Östergötland.

Gubbö Kupa
N 58.11.80 / O 16.57.50
On a hill crest with a wide view, a navigation mark in the form of a cairn is placed. Earlier a beacon was standing here, but it was replaced in 1826 by the existing cairn, which was raised by the pilots of Kättilö. The view from Gubbö Kupa is one of the best in the archipelago.

The port of Fyrudden
N 58.11.50 / O 16.51.20
The port of Fyrudden is the most important in Gryt's archipelago. There is a marine petrol station, a store and a restaurant. There are also bus connections between Fyrudden and Valdemarsvik, from where short trips depart for Norrköping and Västervik. Tourboats also depart from Fyrudden to Harstena daily. More information at .

Häradsskär
N 58.09.00 / O 16.59.00
An old fishing village and pilot harbour. Here there also used to be a smokehouse, salting house and a restaurant business. At Stångskär stands the lighthouse built in 1863 as the second lighthouse made of iron in Sweden. It was designed by Nils Gustav von Heidenstam.
